The Australian Bedding Stewardship Council (ABSC) is an industry sponsored entity established to continue the development of the Recycle My Mattress Product Stewardship Scheme. This development is funded by ABSC members and the Australian Government.
To ensure the Scheme is robust and supported by Industry we are inviting the Mattress and Bedding Industry, Waste and Resource Recovery Industry, Government and associated stakeholders to join us at an online consultation session in November 2021 to discuss and improve the proposed design of the expanded Scheme.
The ABSC will be seeking feedback from key stakeholders on:
- Challenges and opportunities within the proposed design of the expanded Scheme
- Issues needing further information or consultation
- The proposed Product Stewardship Fee and rebates
We would like to secure participants' in-principle agreement on the Scheme design to then progress a submission to the ACCC in December 2021.
Six online consultation sessions are being held for specific stakeholder groups. If you can't attend your group session, or don't fit a group category, you are welcome to join our final session. Please only register for one session.
- Mattress Manufacturer and Importer: Thursday 4 November 2021, 1 pm -2.30 pm AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
- Mattress Retailer: Wednesday 10 November 2021, 10 am - 11.30 am AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
- Mattress Manufacturing Supply Chain: Wednesday 10 November 2021, 1 pm - 2 pm AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
- Government: Thursday 11 November 2021, 10 am - 11.30 am AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
- Waste and Resource Recovery Industry: Thursday 11 November 2021, 1 pm - 2.30 pm AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
- Final session (General Audience):Wednesday 17 November 2021, 10 am - 11.30 am AEDT. Complete. Registrations closed.
Note: Councils are encouraged to attend the Government session, not the Waste and Resource Recovery Industry session.
