Description

Absolute Beginners 6-Week Line Dancing Bootcamp

Always wanted to try line dancing but have absolutely no idea where to start? This is for you.

Western Stomp’s 6-Week Absolute Beginners Bootcamp has been created specifically for complete beginners — no dance experience, no partner and no knowledge of line dancing needed.

Over six Saturday mornings, we’ll start right at the beginning and build your skills and confidence week by week. Rather than jumping straight into a regular class and trying to keep up, you’ll be learning alongside the same group of beginners, with plenty of time to practise, ask questions and get comfortable with the steps.

Your 6 Saturdays

7:00–8:00am

Saturday 19 September
Saturday 26 September
Saturday 3 October
Saturday 10 October
Saturday 17 October
Saturday 24 October

$89 for the complete 6-week program

Your registration includes all six Saturday sessions and your place is secured for the full bootcamp.

Places are limited to 40 participants so we can keep the course supportive, structured and enjoyable.

Throughout the six weeks we'll cover the foundations of line dancing, introduce common steps and terminology, learn beginner-friendly dances and gradually build your confidence on the dance floor.

And if you're feeling confident after your Bootcamp session, you're welcome to stick around for Western Stomp's regular 8:00am Beginners class and put those new skills into practice!

Come on your own, bring a friend, or convince the whole group to give it a go. You don't need a partner — and you definitely don't need to already know how to dance.

Just start. We'll teach you the rest.

FAQs

  • I already attend your Beginners classes — is this Bootcamp for me?

Absolutely! While this course is designed for Absolute Beginners, there’s nothing wrong with going back to the foundations.

If you already attend our Beginners classes but would like a better understanding of the steps, terminology and technique behind the dances, the Bootcamp is a great opportunity to slow things down and really focus on the basics.

You might learn something you’ve missed along the way, gain a better understanding of why we do certain steps — or simply refine and perfect what you already know.

Sometimes going back to the beginning is the best way to move forward with more confidence.

  • What should I expect?

This isn’t just about memorising a few dances — we want to teach you how to understand line dancing.

Across the six weeks, we’ll break things right down and teach you the foundations: how counts work, common line dancing terminology, basic steps and step patterns, direction and walls, weight changes, turns and how to follow an instructor’s calls.

You’ll practise these skills through fun, beginner-friendly dances, with each week building on what you’ve already learned.

Our goal is that by the end of the six weeks, when you hear familiar steps called in a regular Beginners class, you’ll know what they mean and feel much more confident giving them a go.

We’ll start slowly, repeat things plenty of times and build from there — you’re not expected to know a thing when you arrive!

  • What should I bring

Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in and bring a water bottle.

Please keep in mind that we’ll be dancing on carpet, so footwear can make a difference. Some joggers and rubber-soled shoes can grip the carpet, which may make turns and pivots a little more difficult. We recommend comfortable, secure footwear with a sole that allows you to move and turn easily.

Cowboy boots or dance shoes are absolutely welcome, but you don’t need special footwear to get started!
