Dean will share the philosophy and practical approach of Actors Centre Australia (ACA).

The Art of Teaching Acting is every teacher’s “what, why and how”.

WHAT do actors need to learn at this precise moment?
WHY do they need to learn it at this precise moment?
HOW best can I provide them with the most beneficial practical experience and deepest level of understanding?

In these 4 sessions, Dean will explain:
• The practical step by step guide in creating engagement
• How to build a culture of achievement in every teaching studio
• How to build Inspirational insights and distinctions in class structure
• The benefits of buy-in, roll out of exercises through some of his Top 15 exercises and processes
• How to elicit feedback through coaching techniques to empower the students
• How to build a powerful philosophy to unleash the potential within every student

Session 1:
Overall strategy. What do we want each of our sessions to deliver? What is our goal and purpose? How can we be sure we are on target and delivering what is required and engaging our students in the most effective ways? 2 exercises will be shared which will open up a myriad of possibilities and which unlock the imagination.

Session 2:

4 practical exercises demonstrated: exercises to take students to a new level of engagement whilst deepening their range, imagination and skill levels.

Session 3:

Effective feedback: how to create a fast-track short hand feedback to ensure the most dramatic of results. Actors will join this session to demonstrate these practical feedback mechanisms.

Session 4:
4 new exercises demonstrated. Actors will join this session to share in the process LIVE. Powerful exercises will demonstrate how teachers can activate their students full capacity and engage their students at a deep and meaningful level.

IN-PERSON STUDENT WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY

Launching in May 2024, Dean and Troy (ACA Tutor) will come directly to your campus for a 90 minute dynamic workshop. Designed for Year 11 and 12 acting students it will include (1) insights into the world of acting and the transformative power of theatre, (2) an immersive acting experience, (3) Q&A.

Students will get to experience a selection of unique acting games, unleashing their creative spirit. Teachers can get involved or choose to observe and enjoy a masterclass in class structure, buy-in, roll-out of exercises, feedback and coaching techniques.
