Event description

Misinformation and misinterpretation of data are a perennial problem in the health field, but it feels like it is getting worse. Claims linking Autism with paracetamol use were highlighted in a lengthy statement from the White House and the Health Secretary in the United States is a vaccine skeptic. How does the health sector respond? Listen to some of Australia's leading experts on the topic in this Academy of Child and Adolescent Health Webinar on Fake News.

Nick Wood is a Professor at the University of Sydney and Associate Director at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance and general paediatrician at the Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Professor Margie Danchin from the University of Melbourne is the Group Leader for the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) Vaccine Uptake Group and a member of ATAGI (Aus Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation).

They have been actively trying to correct the record and provide a better informed interpretation of the data to ensure healthcare professions across disciplines are equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively combat misinformation.
Come and learn how to play your part!
