Access, safety and pathways out: Reforming temporary accommodation in NSW
Event description
You are invited to join Homelessness NSW for our online webinar "Access, safety and pathways out: Reforming temporary accommodation in NSW" on Thursday 14 December from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
This webinar will bring together researchers, service providers, people with lived experience and policymakers to explore the ways forward for a more accessible and safer temporary accommodation system. In 2023 Homelessness NSW conducted a survey of members on their perceptions of temporary accommodation, which has formed the basis of a research report to be launched at this webinar. The report’s authors will be joined by a panel of service provider and lived experience experts, to explore how and why so many people are unable to access safe temporary accommodation. They will discuss the impossible pressures on service providers to meet growing needs with insufficient resources, and the challenges for facilitating pathways out of temporary accommodation during a housing crisis. Most importantly, the webinar offers the opportunity to discuss the next steps needed to improve NSW’s temporary accommodation system.
Who should attend: Homelessness and domestic violence service providers, government agency representatives, people with lived experiences using temporary accommodation, researchers, peak body representatives, anyone with an interest in homelessness services and policy
We look forward to hosting you.
