Join us for an evening of conversation and connection as Access:VFX teams up with Griffith Film School to present a special industry panel and networking event.

Supported by The Experimental Games Lab

This event brings together professionals from film, animation, games, and VFX who come from underrepresented or minority backgrounds. Hear their stories, gain insights into their creative journeys, and find inspiration to shape your own.

Meet the Pannalist!

Rangi Sutton - VFX Supervisor, ModelFarm Brisbane

Rangi Sutton has been a member of the VFX for decades, with his first feature credit as a Houdini FX artist for D-film on The Matrix in 1999. He expanded his credentials in London studios on features such as Blade II, and Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets at Framestore, before returning to Australia to establish a boutique VFX house, Kanuka Studio.

As studio owner Rangi collected an AFI award for Best Visual Effects in 2010 for their work on Daybreakers, and collaborated with Framestore on key FX sequences on The Prince of Persia.

Moving to Cutting Edge Post in 2011 Rangi oversaw VFX operations between the Brisbane and Sydney sites, establishing the studio as a long-form VFX vendor for local and Hollywood clients. He was Co-head of the VFX Dept, Head of Pipeline and VFX Supervisor for various features and TV series, including The Age of Adeline, Underworld Blood Wars, Underground, A-X-L, and The Boys.

Rangi has always been actively involved in VFX community building – mentoring crew in industry, and has taught animation and pipeline design at Queensland University of Technology, Compositing and Post-production at JMC Academy, and lectured in VFX processes for Griffith Film Masters program.

Liz Ballantyne - Studio Art Director, Gameloft Brisbane

Liz Ballantyne, Studio Art Director at Gameloft Brisbane and Women in Games Ambassador, is a leader driven to create work that promotes both meaningful change and positive disruption.

Celebrating 20 years in games, Liz has collaborated with global brands such as, Netflix, Apple, Hasbro, Disney and SEGA. Leading the artistic vision behind beloved classics, Carmen Sandiego™ and the critically acclaimed The Oregon Trail™, celebrated for their striking visuals and inclusive representation.

A mentor at heart, Liz empowers others through initiatives like Women in Games International, IGEA Mentors, and The Rookies. Recognized for her contributions to gender equality in the industry, Liz also serves on the QUT Industry Advisory Board and the Screen Queensland Equity and Diversity Taskforce, continually advocating for positive change.

Megan Summers - Release Manager, Tantalus North

Megan is an experienced Release Manager at Tantalus North, with over 17 years of experience in the video games industry. Her background spans production, product management, release management and quality assurance, and she has worked for companies such as Pandemic, EA, Krome Studios, THQ, Defiant Development. As well as running indie studio, Screwtape Studios for 14 years. Megan has lead QA teams on Hand of Fate and Hand of Fate 2, and has overseen the production, release or porting of titles such as Damsel, Unpacking, Cities: Skylines Remastered and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5.
