Event description
Accessibility Bites is a seven-part series hosted by BCcampus from August 2025 to February 2026.
These 30-minute sessions will be held on one Thursday each month at 12:00 PM PT.

Each drop-in session is designed to give you the opportunity to explore a different aspect of accessibility that is relevant in an education context. Most sessions will have a short lesson, time to reflect on your practice, and then an opportunity to share and ask questions. Session details are below.
These sessions will be recorded, archived, and made available publicly on BCcampus.ca. By participating in this series, you acknowledge that your participation in each session will be recorded and the recording will be made available openly.

Session 1: Introduction to Web Accessibility

This brief session will introduce the basics of digital accessibility and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Session 2: Supporting Post-Secondary Students with ADHD

Facilitator: Meg Ingram
This brief session will offer practical strategies for creating learning environments that support students with ADHD.
Session 3: Let's Talk about Learning Disabilities
October 30, 2025 from 12:00 to 12:30 PM PT
Facilitator: Dr. Jennifer Fane
This session will provide a brief overview of learning disabilities, how they present within classroom settings, and evidence-based recommendations for supporting learners with learning disabilities in educational settings.
Session 4: The Gift of Dyslexia

Facilitator: Sue Blyth Hall
In this session, Sue Blyth Hall shares her experiential knowledge gained by working with people with dyslexia.
Session 5: Access Friction
December 11, 2025 from 12:00 to 12:30 PM PT
Facilitator: Sefan Sunandan Honisch
In this interactive session we will explore what Access Friction means — both the impossibility of designing courses to anticipate all learning needs and the possibility for more collaborative, even improvisatory approaches to course design and delivery.
Session 6: UDL 3.0 in Practice

Join us for ideas on extending your UDL-based teaching practices using the new UDL 3.0 guidelines.
Session 7: An Indigenous Lens on Disability Rights
February 26, 2026 from 12:00 to 12:30 PM PT
Facilitator: Sue Stirling Burr
In this session, Sue Stirling Burr will discuss how we can use the Declaration of Rights for Indigenous Peoples Act (2019) and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action (2015) as advocacy tools for supporting an Indigenous Person with a disability.
