Entry instructions

Getting to Sunset Park The event will be held at Sunset Park, 3 Aralia Street, Nightcliff, near the Nightcliff Jetty. The easiest access is from Aralia Street/Casuarina Drive. From the park, a sealed, step-free foreshore path provides access towards the shorebird viewing area. The event location is approximately 100 metres from nearby parking, mostly along the sealed path with a short section across relatively flat grass. There are seats and picnic tables at Sunset Park, and a 24-hour toilet block with an accessible toilet nearby. If you have particular access requirements or would like assistance getting from your vehicle to the viewing area, please let us know when registering and we’ll do our best to assist.

Hazards

Sunset Park and the Nightcliff foreshore are public areas and will remain open to other users during the event. Participants should be aware of pedestrians, cyclists, children, dogs and other people using the shared path and surrounding park, particularly when moving between viewing locations or using binoculars and spotting scopes. The event is outdoors with limited shade and exposure to sun and heat. Participants are encouraged to bring drinking water, sun protection, a hat and suitable clothing. Organisers will monitor weather conditions and adjust or cancel activities if conditions become unsafe. Other hazards include uneven ground and grass away from the sealed path, rocks and the coastal edge, insects, and wet or slippery surfaces. Participants will be encouraged to remain on established paths and designated viewing areas where possible. Equipment such as spotting scopes will be positioned so that it does not obstruct the shared path or create trip hazards.
