Disaster recovery grants and loans are available through QRIDA for small businesses impacted during the North and Far North Queensland Tropical Low from January 29 in the local government areas of Burdekin, Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Hinchinbrook, Palm Island, Townsville and Yarrabah.
- Grants of up to $25,000 are available for affected small businesses to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, replace or repair damaged infrastructure and stock and other costs associated with the recovery process.
- Disaster Assistance Loans of up to $250,000 are available to assist small businesses with re-establishing normal operations.
- Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Loans of up to $100,000 are available to assist small businesses with essential working capital for expenses.

Sheree Finney – QRIDA Manager for Disaster and Drought
Sheree Finney is the Manager for Disaster and Drought at the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA). For the past five years, Sheree has been managing the government grants and loans that QRIDA administers to help Queensland Small Businesses recover from thee impacts of disasters.
With extensive agribusiness and disaster management experience, Sheree engages with industry and government stakeholders to ensure small businesses get the financial assistance they need throughout various stages of recovery through extreme weather events. As disasters become more frequent and severe, so does the importance of Sheree’s work in helping Queensland businesses recover.
