Accessing Work Experience Through School

This webinar aims to support families to maintain high expectations and provide strategies in how to successfully approach school to support the young person to step into a meaningful work experience placement. It will also highlight the importance of families staying true to their vision for their young person, so that work experience opportunities align with their interests and strengths.

This workshop covers:
- Working with schools to ensure optimum work experience
- Why starting early is essential
- Identifying suitable work placements
- Engaging with employers
- Getting the supports right
- How to approach roles and tasks
Learning Objectives
• Define what work experience is and its value for their young person during the school years
• Identify how to set high expectations and use a vision
• Understand starting with their young person, and identifying their interests, contributions, and conditions for success
• Recognise the role of the student, parent and employer for creating a successful work experience
• Learn tips for working with the school and engaging with employers

This webinar is for secondary school students with disabilities and their families. Supporters and allies
are also welcome to attend.

We will be using the video meeting platform Zoom to host the webinar.

· speakers/sound

Resourcing Inclusive Communities, an
initiative of Family Advocacy (NSW) and Imagine More
