Event description

Accounting for Nature and the University of Oxford have launched a strategic research collaboration aimed at expanding evidence-based environmental accounting and the use of the Accounting for Nature® Framework throughout Europe and globally. This collaboration will develop robust, science-based methods for measuring, benchmarking and reporting on the state of nature, enabling organisations to assess better and mitigate nature-related risks and capitalise on emerging opportunities.

Founded in 2019, Accounting for Nature builds on more than 15 years of work from the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists in developing the Accounting for Nature® Framework: a world-leading trusted Certification Standard that provides complete transparency in the emerging field of environmental accounting. Science remains at the heart of what we do to deliver a high-quality, credible, evidence-based and verifiable Environment Accounting Standard to the world.

This webinar is presented by Dr Molly Grace, Accounting for Nature® Senior Research Lead, and will guide you through the rigorous scientific investigations that the University of Oxford is undertaking to develop best practices for measuring the state of nature, including guidelines for determining the natural intact or undegraded reference state of environmental assets, establishing guidance on attribution of positive impact, and developing state of nature monitoring methods in Europe.

Dr Grace is a conservation biologist and ecologist with more than 13 years of experience in research, teaching, and scientific framework development. She has a passion for translating scientific research results into practical conservation methods, which she has implemented as a Knowledge Exchange Fellow for the UK's National Environment Research Council and as the current Co-Chair of the IUCN Green Status of Species initiative. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and a PhD in Conservation Biology.

Join us for this free event as we explore how transparent accountability can drive meaningful change, creating lasting value for nature everywhere.
