Accounting Week is an interactive four-day event showcases the leading research and education capabilities of the Accounting Department at the Monash Business School. This year’s event will run from Monday, 14 to Thursday, 17 August and include a host of activities for industry professionals, alumni, current students, accounting educators and researchers.

Launch of Accounting Week 2023.   5:30pm-8:30pm, Monday, 14 August


The launch of Accounting Week (14 August) will look at the role of accounting in addressing global challenges, focusing on the contribution to fostering thriving communities. We are delighted to announce Terence Jeyaratnam, Partner at EY and EY Asia-Pacific Climate Change and Sustainability Services Leader will deliver a plenary on the topic Accounting and Inequality: How accounting contributes to social sustainability through the reduction of inequality. We are equally pleased to inform that this address will be followed by a panel discussion that will include, among others, Dr Sasha Courville, Chief Impact Officer, Bank Australia. The launch event will also highlight leading research conducted by the team at the Department of Accounting, and its impact by addressing complex real-world issues. Industry professionals, alumni, and academic staff are invited to attend the launch of Accounting Week, an event designed in partnership with CA ANZ.


Accounting Careers and Opportunities.  2:30pm-5:00pm, Tuesday, 15 August


The Department of Accounting is honoured to partner with CPA Australia to present a Panel of experts to discuss careers and opportunities in the accounting profession. This Panel will show how accounting offers many exciting pathways to a career in business and beyond. The Panel will be followed by a speed mentoring session, in which participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with business leaders to gain real-world insights. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are invited to attend the event.


Accounting Employability. 2:00pm-6:00pm, Wednesday, 16 August


The Department of Accounting is proud to partner with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand to offer this event aimed at developing participants’ employability. This event will help you stand out from the crowd as you seek to secure career opportunities, extending the previous day’s focus on the many exciting pathways that accounting offers. Activities include a LinkedIn health check, mock interviews and a professional LinkedIn photoshoot. These fantastic opportunities will help you present your best self to the world as you seek your dream job! Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are invited to attend the event.


Accounting Curriculum Roundtable.  4.30pm - 7:00pm, Thursday, 17 August

The Department of Accounting, in partnership with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand presents the Accounting Curriculum Roundtable. This event charts the journey of the accounting curriculum, beginning at High School, continuing at University, and ending with a professional body qualification. Building bridges between the different levels of study to develop a deeper understanding of the individual contributions, the roundtable aims to enhance curriculum alignment, thus increasing the attractiveness of accounting as an area of study and a career of choice. Accounting High School teachers, School Career Advisors, and university academic staff are invited to attend this event.
