Auckland Climate Festival 2021 Launch
Event description
We’re thrilled to now have over 65+ events make up the Auckland Climate Festival programme - it's really exciting to see it come together, particularly in these Covid times and in our first year. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
To celebrate the launch of the festival, the organisers are hosting a one hour virtual launch event on the 12 October to coincide with Vector Lights, in partnership with Auckland Council, lighting up of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the festival colours.
The bridge will be lit up in the four colours of the ACF brand that represent earth, sea, sky and all living beings. These come together to acknowledge that the health of Papatūānuku underpins the wellbeing of our communities.
We've got an exciting line-up. You'll hear from the following:
- Kingi Makoare, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei
- Hon. James Shaw, Minister for Climate Change
- Nick Mabey, London Sustainable Development Commissioner & Founder of London Climate Action Week
- Chlöe Swarbrick, MP for Auckland Central
- Rebekah Tregonning, UN Youth
- Minh Anh Trần, Green Jam and Western Springs College
- Mayor of Auckland, Phil Goff
- Simon Mackenzie, Group Chief Executive, Vector
- Ben Morley-John, Smash Delta
- Michelle Kennedy, Founder of Auckland Climate Festival
