Fri, 28 Feb, 12pm - 1:30pm AEDT

Event description

Applicants for higher degrees have a range of motivations to undertake a research degree and success for each applicant looks different. Universities work hard to facilitate graduate researchers to realise their career aspirations through professional development opportunities, but how much do universities explore graduate researcher career aspirations and existing capabilities on application?  Can a closer analysis of career aspirations and existing capabilities at selection facilitate better decision-making at selection, highlight the developmental resources a candidate will need for success and better align the expectations of both the applicant and university? Or this just making a complex process more complex?

Join Anne-Marie Hede as she brings her experience as a strategic leader of graduate research to these questions in our first webinar for 2025. The webinar will explore what the current thinking around selection is and how universities can invest in selection for graduate success.

Many of you will know Anne-Marie through your involvement in the ACGR when she was Dean Graduate Research and Head of the Office for Researcher Quality and Integrity at Victoria University, Melbourne, for over six years (2017-2022) and a member of the ACGR Executive (2019-2022).  She now holds an honorary professorship with Victoria University and has established High Ambitions Consulting which is focussed on supporting  organisations to realise their research and research training goals.
