    Event description

Did you know that 60% of girls say they find it challenging to find female role models? This has a significant impact on the career trajectory for young women and building future-proof skills.

The lack of mentorship, diverse representation and role models means the gender gaps in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and other non-traditional careers become even wider. We need more women to be at the seat of the table in these sectors to help build a better and equitable world. For far too long, girls and young women have been told a narrative that they don’t belong in these fields, or at these tables and that is simply not true!

Mentors help pave the roadmap to success and help you to see the hope inside yourself. Hear stories from our panel of changemakers who dared to challenge the status quo.

Girls today face unique challenges growing up, but mentoring can positively impact all young people. Having strong role models and mentors can transform lives, build resilience and a powerful growth mindset. What’s more, mentors can help you get clarity on your passions and interests, so you don’t waste time chasing the wrong pathways. The future world of work has also become really overwhelming, so with so much information at our fingertips, it creates anxiety for young people trying to make decisions about their futures.  At Girls of Impact, we want to help sort through the noise.

Open to all parents, carers, teachers, secondary girls (years 9-12), and first - second year university students, we have an inspiring panel of change-makers — who are also our Girls of Impact Youth Ambassadors. Brooke Powell, Jenessa O’Connell, Alicia Lillington and Shae Potter.

These fearless young women will candidly share how mentoring has helped them advance in life and their careers. They’ll also share some of the hurdles and challenges and how they overcame fears and adversity.

We will also be launching the Big Sister Academy

“The Big Sister Academy will help so many girls to confidently pursue their career pathways in STEM and business and open up a world of opportunities. Glad to be part of this great initiative.” HR Business Partner at [Banking & Finance]
