ACLTN Online Community of Practice - August
Event description
ACLTN Online Community of Practice.
The Australian Community Land Trust Network (ACLTN) has recently registered as an incorporated association. We are keen to bring people together working on CLTs to share knowledge and information as we work together nationally. The next meeting of the ACLTN Community of Practice will be on Thursday 15 August from 2 pm to 3.30pm via Zoom. Please register to receive the link.
Topic:
Community land trusts are relatively unknown in Australia, and that unfamiliarity can impede CLT adoption and implementation. While there is an emerging sector that is growing from community and government interest, CLTs are an untested model that differs from mainstream Australian homeownership and rental. That means it is hard to know whether CLTs have broader market appeal.
This Community of Practice will focus on recently published research, which shows that resale-restricted CLT homeownership is of interest and appeal to people who want to buy a home but cannot afford market-rate housing. Drawing on focus groups held in Melbourne, the research documents strong and near-universal interest, and ways in which would-be CLT residents saw the model meeting their needs.
The paper is open access - enjoy!
As a new organisation, the ACLTN's CoP is receiving admin support from the Housing Matters Action Group Inc.
