ACON - Clarence Youth Network Session
Description
ACON Professional Development Opportunity
Following feedback from an earlier Clarence Youth Network (CYN) icebreaker activity, where members identified they would: “like to see happen in 2026: LGBTQIA+ Training and Info”. We’re excited to welcome ACON to our November CYN meeting for a dedicated professional development session.
The session will introduce ACON’s services, programs and available supports, while providing current information and practical resources to strengthen inclusive practice when working with young people.
Topics will include the latest HIV and STI facts and myth-busting, gender diversity and sexuality, barriers experienced by LGBTQ+ people, and practical ways services can create safer and more inclusive environments for young people. The session will also explore case studies and provide useful tools, information and resources that can be applied within your own practice.
Even if you have attended ACON training or presentations previously, we strongly encourage you to come along. Information, data, resources and best-practice approaches continue to evolve, making this a valuable opportunity to refresh your knowledge, hear what’s new and strengthen your confidence when supporting diverse young people across the Clarence Valley.
This professional development opportunity will be held in conjunction with the November Clarence Youth Network meeting.
Tuesday, 20 November | 11:00am | 2 Prince Street Grafton, Council Chambers.
RSVP is essential to assist ACON trainers with planning and to ensure appropriate catering is available.
We encourage all CYN members and services working with young people to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, refresh their knowledge and strengthen inclusive practice.
