Act Local LUNCH AND LEARN : Getting your org ready for volunteers
Event description
You’ve got the people. They care. They show up.
But let’s be honest — managing volunteers without the right systems can feel like herding butterflies in a windstorm.
This free Lunch & Learn is for community organisers, team leaders, and anyone working in volunteer-involving organisations (VIOs) who are holding the centre — often without a map. You’re already doing the work. This session will help you do it with more ease and clarity.
🛠 What we’ll cover:
- What “volunteer-ready” really means when you’re already in motion
- Simple systems that support (not stifle) community energy
- How to manage expectations, set boundaries, and avoid burnout
- The must-haves (and nice-to-haves) for safer, stronger volunteer involvement
This isn’t about bureaucracy. It’s about building a backbone that supports the spark of community action — sustainably.
💡 You’ll leave with:
- A self-check tool to assess your current volunteer setup
- Flexible, practical strategies for your unique context
- Stories from the field and “thank goodness I’m not the only one” moments
