Background
Social enterprise is a growing business model all over the world, and governments of all levels are taking an interest in how social enterprises can use business to achieve social and environmental goals. The ACT Government has invested in social enterprise through the Social Enterprise Grants Program, administered by Mill House Ventures, in 2023-24 and 2024-25, and the ACT's Government Procurement Act 2001 defines value for money, in relation to a procurement, as "the best available outcome for the procurement that maximises the overall benefit to the Territory" which opens the door for social enterprises, who deliver social and environmental benefits beyond the dollar value of a good or service.
Following the recent election in the ACT, this is an opportunity to share information and ideas to shape what the future of social enterprise in and around Canberra could look like over the coming years.
This event is relevant for
- Social enterprise leaders
- Members of the Legislative Assembly
- ACT Government staff
