Action the Compassion Hui: Identity & Belonging
Event description
We are delighted that you will be joining us for our youth hui focused on Peace and Compassion.
We are five students from Hillmorton High School and St Andrew's College who have designed this event to bring students together from schools in Ōtautahi Christchurch and across Waitaha Canterbury.
With our history of Peace and Compassion in the city we'll work together to see how we can contribute to an inclusive society that champions peace, compassion and forgiveness, so that people of all backgrounds can truly feel a sense of belonging.
This event includes:
- youth led hui
- keynote speakers
- time to connect and work with students from schools across Waitaha
- activities to inspire and create action plans
- youth-designed resources to utilise
Come prepared to have some deeper and maybe uncomfortable conversations in a safe space. Ōtautahi Christchurch and Waitaha Canterbury has its flaws, lets acknowledge these and look at what change we, as a group of passionate young people from across the region, want to explore and activate. Teachers, you will also get the opportunity to connect and discuss your role in supporting young people as activators of positive change.
These kōrero or conversations are too important to leave to chance and we're really excited to invite you to join us.
Come with your enthusiasm and openness, you don't need to bring any books or devices to work from.
Morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
Dress code: no school uniforms please
