    Event description

    Nomans Lake, 2024

Activate Saplings are pumped to bring you our THIRD tree-planting festival created for and by the next generation of environmental stewards! 🙌🌳

Be HEROIC and join us at Nomans Lake to plant 30,000 seedlings over one weekend. These little baby trees have been grown at Boola Boornap Nursery, an initiative of Noongar Land Enterprise, and funded by Carbon Positive Australia. With the support of Trillion Trees and your very own hands we’ll put these seedlings where they belong, on Wiilman Noongar Boodja, over three days full of food, community, music and dancing.

    Please note!!!!
This Activate event has a slightly different flavour to other ATP events….
This event is run by young adults aimed at empowering and inspiring young adults! All are welcome, but due to our volunteer capacity, we won't guarantee dedicated activities for children, supervision, early dinners etc. – and the partying will go ‘til late ;)

    Alright, let’s goooo! ⚡️⚡️

    WHO ARE THE SAPLINGS? 💚
Activate Saplings is the youth division of Activate Tree Planting. Our core crew is a bunch of twenty-somethings who are totally sold on the Activate festival model and its mission and values. Guided by the Activate Tree Planting leaders and elders, the Saplings are learning the ropes of organising Activate festivals. Our aim is to involve, connect with and inspire young people just like us with the Activate mission, vision and energy – to plant seeds of hope for our future through a festival of celebration and connection to place.

    PLANTING FOR THE FUTURE 🤲🌱
Justin and Kelly Armstrong are local farmers concerned about the impact of extensive clearing of the land.  They are welcoming us for the first time onto their family farm to help restore the health of the land and expand much-needed habitat for native fauna. This project involves revegetating along watercourses and low lying areas to increase biodiversity, ecological resilience, and to create ecological corridors through the landscape, improving habitat and movement opportunities for wildlife and increasing the health of the soil.

    VIBES FOR DAYS 🎷💃🕺
A special live musical experience awaits you with acts from musicians of diverse genres. Each night you can listen to the music from your spot round the fire or dance in the open air to celebrate getting all those trees in the ground. Bring your instruments for a campfire jam session, and be ready to groove along to the DJ’s in the field!

    WHAT’S COOKING? 🧙‍♂️🧙‍♀️ 🍲
The real heroes of the festival - our Kitchen Witches - are preparing all your hot meals and snacks to boot! Fresh, healthy, nourishing meals made with love and eaten together… there’s nothing better to fuel us through the weekend.

    CREATING NOT CONSUMING ⚡️
The best thing about Activate is the people! Participate in community, dance with new friends, yarn around the campfire, stretch out under the stars, listen to the trees, connect with nature. Bring a white garment to try eco-dyeing, or join in woodworking to craft special take-home memories. Look out for the finalised weekend program!
