Active Bystander Workshop (LMPHU & WHLM)
Description
This workshop will introduce the Bystander effect; how social norms, exclusions and disadvantage is maintained through our collective silence. We will explore Bystander Actions; looking at current examples and why people often don’t intervene because we minimise, trivialise and individualise discrimination and exclusion.
This workshop shares everyday scenarios that are applied to ways to intervene safely in diverse contexts. Our workshop is designed to prepare you to be an active bystander, setting up effective and safe ways to intervene within the workplace and your community.
This training is being funded by the Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit, Murray sub-region which has identified mental well-being as a priority in their prevention and population health plan, and have a commitment to training initiatives that support people in the community feeling safe to be themselves.
