Sensory-Friendly Zone Information
We know that some players might need a quiet space during the day - and we’ve got them covered! The Sensory Zone is a calm, low-stimulation area designed with our neurodivergent players in mind. It provides a private space for anyone feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or needing time to self-regulate. Key features include: - Exclusive quiet zone: reduced lighting and limited to 1 player at a time for a peaceful environment. - Safe & supervised: set up away from main activities but still within sight of coaches. - No time limit: players can take the time they need before rejoining when ready. - Privacy & comfort: gazebo with side walls to block outside distractions, plus soft floor mats, bean bags, and an inflatable sofa bed. - Sensory tools & aids: fidget toys, modelling clay, disposable eye masks, stress balls, communication boards, emotional regulation cards, headphones & calming music on our Spotify playlist. Some players may find it hard to explain their needs in the moment. If your child would benefit from this, they can be given a discrete card or wristband at the start of the day. This helps coaches recognise that your child is using the sensory space intentionally, without needing to verbalise why they are stepping away. If this would be helpful for your child, please chat with staff at sign-in or contact Holly (via email or phone) before camp.
