FAQs
- Are there rules?
Yes! They are the same as the subreddit rules only modified/amplified for a meeting like this.
Basically, don't be a jerk and don't share out inappropriate content.
Review the Reddit Rules: https://www.reddit.com/r/activedirectory/wiki/index/subreddit-rules
- Is there a dress code?
Yes. Wear clothes. Don't wear anything obscene.
If you have to ask if it would be okay, it probably isn't.
- Will it be recorded?
Yes. The recording will uploaded to the community Youtube and Archive.org.
- What information is being collected? What is it used for?
I, Poolmanjim / Tyler, want as little as possible. Names and emails are nice so I can send out the invite and links and what not. I don't really care beyond the count of attendees.
I prefer everyone register with their reddit user ID if they can, but you can also use a fake email as long as you get the link. If it is a burner email, I don't care. I also promise not to dox anyone who doesn't want that info out.
The platform(s) I use will collect a little so look at their policies. - What kind of content should we expect?
It will vary. So far it has been a discussion with a few panelists and a few topics. The intention is to make this community-led so hopefully there are questions or topics. If not we'll find something to discuss.
If you have an idea, we usually have a poll up before hand to gather questions.
- Do I need to be working with IAM/Active Directory to attend?
If you want to join and listen and be a part of the community, you're welcome. Our focus is Active Directory and surrounding technologies, but I expect there will be tangents.
We will avoid controversial topics except when the discussion would immediately relate to technology and identity (e.g., privacy laws, etc.).
- Why Proton Meet? Why not one of the other vendors?
I chose Proton for two major reasons:
They are not a US-based tech giant or immediately affiliated with one. Whether you are in the US or not, there is too much control from too few. Proton is not part of that group.
They are privacy focused. Yes some of the platforms used aren't as much, but I want to encourage privacy focus.
Note: I had originally planned on asking them to sponsor the event, but the logistics are hard and I'm not sure where things will go in the future.
- I'm interested sponosring the community. How can I help?
Contact Poolmanjim / Tyler.
In general Reddit is anti-corporate and anti-paywall. So, the deal will be you are not asking us to push for you. At most It'll be a link and a vendor spot or something, but I want this to be about the content not sales.
We won't hock your wares or sell your stuff, but if you sponsor us, you're helping a community that has only a goal of connecting and sharing information.
- Why so few panelists? Why were mics muted?
Take a web call. Add 50 people sharing cameras and talking over each other.
That does not sound fun.
Panelists will be given free reign to speak and we ask everyone else stay muted unless they are called on, please.
- Do I get CPEs?
I don't think so. You'd have to take that up with the CPE organization. If the information about your attendance is captured and you can verify you are who you say you are, I will pass along an attendance report for you specifically if so requested.

Rules and Expectations
1. No LinkedIn/Github/Blog Self Promotion in chat.
During introductions, you may post a link, but keep it to one.
2. NO PUSHING YOUR COMPANY OR PRODUCTS!
3. PG-13 language - Nothing wrong with a couple of salty words, but keep it under control.
Note - This rule also applies to backgrounds and the like. If you wouldn't show it at work, don't show it here.
4. Cameras and Audio will be muted for all but panelists except during specified periods.
There may be a lot of us and I don't want absolute chaos so to streamline things, we'll just keep the panelists on and have an open Q&A for most of the time.
If you have something you want to say, raise your hand and one of the panelists will call you out and we'll get you enabled. We're going to be very stingy about camera though.
5. No attacks - We're discussing and debating, not beating down. Everyone has a right to be wrong.
6. Have Fun! Thanks for helping make this thing cool!
