A Day With Prof. Katherine Verdolini Abbott: Mastering the HOW of Singing Teaching

Event Description:

This event is a full-day deep dive into the application of perceptual motor learning theory for singing teachers, which will give you practical tools to improve not just your teaching, but your students' learning experience. The event is well suited to advanced teachers as well as those just starting out, and everyone in between.

You know WHAT you want your singing students to learn, but how often do you stop to think about HOW you can teach it in a way that ensures not just short term improvement, but long term retention as well?

Prof. Katherine (Kittie) Verdolini Abbott pioneered the application of perceptual-motor learning theory (much of it originating in the world of sports) into the world of voice training. Kittie will demonstrate how motor learning can impact singers, first via a teaching demonstration, followed by two lectures detailing the application of motor learning research. The afternoon will consist of a hands-on interactive session where you will put into practice the key takeaways from the morning sessions by teaching your fellow attendees. Kittie will provide feedback in a small group setting, and the day will close with a Q&A session. See schedule below for details.
