About Gary & Marilyn Skinner

In 1984, Gary and Marilyn Skinner planted a local church in Kampala, to speak hope and life into a nation devastated by civil war. Today, over 38,000 people gather weekly in person and online to celebrate the life-changing power of Christ.

Ten years later, they responded to the cry of millions of orphaned and vulnerable children, founding Watoto Child Care Ministries. Since then, they have: Placed thousands of orphans into loving families, empowered vulnerable women to become leaders in their communities, rescued abandoned babies and given them a future and helped 30,000 girls stay in school through education, financial support, and essential resources.

After leading Watoto for nearly four decades, Gary and Marilyn have now passed the baton to Julius and Vernita Rwotlonyo. Their passion remains the same mobilizing the local church to bring transformation to communities in need.
