Event description

Join us for a one-day Trans Justice Campaign Training! On the day you will learn about movement building and organising, meet like-minded people, and find out how you can make a difference in your community.

We all deserve the freedom to be ourselves but right now the trans and gender diverse community is under attack. Both in Australia and globally, anti-trans lobbyists are working to attack our rights, safety, and our access to life-changing healthcare.

That’s why ahead of the next election we are building power in our communities, having thousands of conversations, and calling on our leaders to commit to the #TransJusticePledge. Together we can build a future where all of us are safe, celebrated, and free.

At the training we will cover our plan for the upcoming Federal election, skills in organising, how to have powerful conversations in your community, and how you can get involved in the Trans Justice Project.

Scholarships are available if you cannot pay for a ticket. Money raised from tickets will go towards covering the costs of the event.

This training is about taking action
Please note that this is not a community support group and will be primarily focused on activism and change-making. We will be discussing the campaigns targeting our communities, the current Trans Justice Project campaign, and how we fight back against the anti-trans lobby.

Allies are welcome

Friends, family, and allies of the trans community are very welcome to attend and participate. However, this event centres trans experiences and perspectives. Allies are encouraged to ensure they make space for trans people in conversation, don’t assume people's genders/pronouns, and approach topics with curiosity.

Covid safety

If you feel unwell or have been a close contact of someone who has covid please do not attend. Trans and gender diverse people are at high risk of long covid and so extra care should be taken to ensure each other's safety. We encourage people to mask during the training and will provide hand sanitiser for attendees to use.

Accessibility
The venue is wheelchair accessible. You are welcome to leave or take space at any time if you feel anxious or overwhelmed. Fidgets, attention or mobility aids, and support people are welcome in the space (free entry available for support people). There will be a dedicated online session at a later date for those that cannot attend in person. Please get in touch with us if you require live captioning. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at info@transjustice.org.au.
