ADIA September Meetup - Positive impacts of AI: The intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Inclusion
Event description
ADIA September Meetup: Positive impacts of AI - The intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Inclusion
Much like we have seen with the rise of digital technologies, the uptake of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is touching a range of areas in our everyday lives. While there is a need to ensure that Australians are sufficiently skilled in digital capability and media literacy to best navigate an AI enabled world, we also recognise the positive impacts AI tools can have on digitally excluded cohorts, whether it’s through language translation, productivity enhancement or simply participation.
Join the Australian Digital Inclusion Alliance (ADIA) at our next online meetup, focused on the intersection of AI and Digital Inclusion. Our panel will share a diverse range of perspectives and experiences working with digitally excluded cohorts within the community.
Queensland University of Technology’s Professor Michael Dezuanni will share insights from an education and digital inclusion perspective, and CEO of Women’s Health in the South East, Kit McMahon, will be sharing some of the positive use cases for AI as demonstrated by women within her community.
Infoxchange CEO and ADIA Chair, David Spriggs, will moderate the event. Q&A to follow the discussion.

About the ADIA
The Australian Digital Inclusion Alliance (ADIA) is a shared initiative with over 500 business, government, academic and community organisations working together to accelerate action on digital inclusion. Our member organisations conduct a variety of research and practical programs aimed at reducing the digital divide and enabling greater social and economic participation for all Australians. The ADIA is supported by Infoxchange, Google, Telstra and TasNetworks. Australia Post was also a founding partner.
The ADIA’s vision is to build a digitally inclusive Australia where everyone is equipped to fully participate in the economy and society. Being digitally included means a person has:
- Affordable access to quality internet and appropriate devices.Â
- Access to inclusively designed online content, that’s readable and accessible, including if they are differently abled or from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- The knowledge, ability, skills and confidence to complete tasks safely and securely online.Â
