Access Rider Workshop

Our Advance Your Career session is dedicated to upskilling artists and arts workers with disability or who are d/Deaf on creating Access Riders. Access Riders are a useful document for communicating your access requirements to employers and contracting organisations. As a person with disability, learn how to effectively advocate for what you need to do your best work with this important tool.

This online workshop will provide a practical overview of what an Access Rider is, how to write one, what to ask for and the kind of language to use. The session will cover:

  • Understanding disability models

  • The rights of people with disability and/or who are d/Deaf

  • Self-Advocacy for people with disability

  • How to write an Access Rider and examples

  • What are workplace adjustments and how to negotiate them

  • 90 minutes

  • Prior to the session we’ll send you links to resources you can refer to before, during and after the workshop

Participation

All sessions are delivered using the Zoom online conferencing platform (Zoom links are provided following booking)

Closed captioning and Auslan interpreting are available on request for all training. Please advise of your access requirements upon registration. Please note that we require at least 4 working days’ notice.
