ADVANCED ADULT JAZZ COMBO

Meeting Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, this intensive course is designed for serious jazz cats looking to refine their craft and delve deeper into the intricacies of jazz music.

Led by accomplished jazz artists who make their living on the stage, this class offers a unique opportunity to learn from working professionals. Our instructors bring real-world experience and insights, providing you with practical knowledge that goes beyond theory.

In this advanced course, we'll explore complex jazz compositions, diving into the works of renowned jazz composers. We'll also focus on advanced improvisation concepts, including tritone substitutions, voice leading, and chromatic techniques. Additionally, we'll cover essential professional skills like arranging, repertoire selection, and gig etiquette.

  PREREQUISITES...  

Before enrolling, please ensure you meet the following requirements. 
We strongly urge potential students to honestly assess their skills, as these prerequisites are crucial for keeping pace with the class:

• Advanced music reading ability
• Thorough knowledge of your instrument, including all notes and fingerings
• Proficiency in major and minor scales and chords
• Ability to play a blues form from memory
• Ability to play rhythm changes from memory
• Skill in easily following lead sheets, charts, and roadmaps

This class is designed for dedicated jazz musicians looking to push their boundaries and take their playing to a professional level. If you meet these prerequisites and are ready for an exciting challenge, we look forward to seeing you in class!
