Advanced QLab for design
Event description
Have you been working with QLab for a while and are ready to take your sound designs to the next level? Then this workshop is for you. The session is designed for budding sound designers and theatre makers who have programmed a few shows with QLab and want to dig deeper into the higher functions of QLab. Topics covered will include mixing multiple tracks, effects and triggering auto sequences.
Chris Wenn is an award-winning sound designer for theatre, based in Melbourne, Australia. His creative practice has largely been in the independent and small-company sector, and he has developed and performed work extensively across Australia, in Indonesia, Singapore, the UK, and Europe. This has included extensive experience in text-based performance and devised work, including work for young people and people with disabilities.
Chris has received Green Room Award nominations for Sound for his work on The Trouble With Harry (MKA/Darebin Arts Speakeasy/Melbourne Festival 2014) and Rust and Bone (La Mama, 2016), and was the recipient of the Straits Times ‘Life!’ Theatre Award for the Sound Design of In The Silence of Your Heart (2018) at Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay, Singapore.

Due to current building works underway at Footscray Community Arts, temporary access to the Performance Space is via a roller door on Bunbury Street. WHAT TO BRING:
- To get the most out of this workshop, participants are encouraged to bring along a Mac laptop pre-loaded with QLab (https://qlab.app).
Feel free to bring along any files that you are working with and any challenges you are having with them. - This is a non-catered event so please have your lunch before the workshop and bring along your own water bottle and any snacks you may require. There will be a short break during the workshop. Coffee and snacks can be purchased onsite at Myrtle Cafe, open from 7am to 3pm each day.
