Advancing DEIBelonging Workshop Series
Event description
As part of Cultures Connecting's continued commitment to fostering welcoming, inclusive communities where everyone experiences belonging, we invite you to join us for this three-part series: Advancing DEIB: Understanding Resistance, Cultivating Belonging, and Finding Hope.
While facing multiple challenges from the current administration, organizations, community members, and families are reflecting on how we can remain centered in our shared values—ensuring all people and feel respected, supported, and connected.
These sessions offer an opportunity to explore ways we can continue nurturing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in ways that are thoughtful, human-centered, informed, and responsive to the moment. We hope you’ll join us for this opportunity to reflect, connect, and grow together as a community.
PART 1: Advancing DEIB: Understanding the Political Climate of Resistance
6/12/2025 at 9:00am-12:00pm PT / 12:00-3:00pm ET
This workshop examines and analyzes the organized effort to roll back DEI programs in schools, government, and workplaces in post-pandemic America. We look at the roots of the anti-DEI movement and the tactics it employs to malign and delegitimize commitments to a more equitable and inclusive society. Through an overview of recent executive orders and existing civil rights law, this session will discuss how organizations can maintain programs critical to our multicultural democracy while also staying aware of changing legal conditions. We’ll consider strategies to counter manipulative tactics, reclaim the narrative, and continue making America a more inclusive and just society.
PART 2: Advancing DEIB: Radical Self Care and Community Connections
6/19/2025 at 9:00am-12:00pm PT / 12:00-3:00pm ET
In a time of backlash against DEIB efforts, those who have dedicated themselves to social justice might question the impact of their work. People of Color and others who experience marginalization may have increased anxiety as they are targeted and scapegoated. Colleagues who once stood in solidarity might now hesitate to speak up. During such periods of fear and uncertainty, it is easy to lose hope and channel our energy into anger. In this workshop, we aim to emphasize the significance of self and community care practices that cultivate resilience both individually and collectively.
By nurturing our emotional well-being, honoring personal sovereignty, and fostering a sense of community, we can better prepare ourselves to confront and counteract injustices. It is through these practices that we can maintain the bandwidth and capacity needed to continue advancing DEIB work, standing strong together, and making a lasting impact.
PART 3: Advancing DEIB: Finding Hope in Uncertain Times
6/26/2025 at 9:00am-12:00pm PT / 12:00-3:00pm ET
As we navigate the evolving political landscape, we have the opportunity to strengthen our commitment to social justice and community support. In this interactive session, we’ll focus on how we can move forward together and uplift one another. Participants will discover three fundamental components of hope that will guide us as we embrace the powerful concept of belonging. We’ll explore strategies to enhance positive narratives and further the cause of inclusivity and justice in America. Together, we will develop approaches for fostering authentic connections within organizations, neighborhoods, and broader networks.
