Improving Road Safety Through Data-Driven Insights – From Evidence to Impact
The ACRS Victoria Chapter is pleased to invite you to a thought-provoking and timely webinar titled "Improving Road Safety Through Data-Driven Insights: From Evidence to Impact." This session will bring together four distinguished experts to explore how innovative uses of data are shaping the future of road safety in Australia and internationally.
This webinar will showcase leading perspectives on how road safety data—when effectively collected, linked, and applied—can drive more informed decision-making, accelerate the path toward zero fatalities and serious injuries, and promote transparency and accountability across the transport sector.
Our expert speakers include:
Dr Blair Turner (Director, Road Safety Advisory Services):
Dr Turner will draw on global best practices to highlight opportunities for enhancing the quality, accessibility, and use of road safety data in policy and program development.
Professor Stuart Newstead (Director, Monash University Accident Research Centre):
Professor Newstead will present insights into how integrating crash data with health, exposure, and behavioural datasets enables a more comprehensive understanding of risk—crucial for progressing toward the vision of zero road trauma.
Mr Ross Gregory (Speed Management Specialist, Road Safety Victoria):
Mr Gregory will discuss Victoria’s innovative use of connected vehicle data to support more responsive and evidence-based speed management strategies.
Ms Nicola Fotheringham (Director, Road Safety Strategy and Systems, Road Safety Victoria):
Ms Fotheringham will outline how Road Safety Victoria is using data to guide strategic safety improvements and will present the recently launched public datasets designed to enhance transparency and evidence-informed planning.
The session will be chaired by Dr Amir Sobhani, Director of Safe Path Consulting and Committee Member of the ACRS Victoria Chapter. The webinar will open with a welcome address by Ms Chris Harrison, Chair of the ACRS Victoria Chapter.
Join us for this engaging session that will offer fresh perspectives and practical insights into how smarter use of data can shape safer, more sustainable road networks. This is a must-attend event for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and anyone interested in the future of road safety.
