Motivational Interviewing Advanced Skills Training
Event description
Training Description: Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based practice that offers a practical approach for supporting clients in making and sustaining healthy behavior changes. In particular, MI has been shown to be especially effective in brief clinical encounters and for individuals not ready or unsure about change. This advanced 2-day workshop is designed for individuals who have completed introductory training in MI. Participants will be guided through a sequence of learning activities to move from basic to more advanced skillfulness in their own areas of work. Practitioners will learn effective ways to handle client discord, how to specifically apply each MI technique to help clients consider change, and practice using a Change Plan Worksheet. Ample time will be allotted for questions, discussion, skill practice, and demonstrations.
