Description

Adventure Seekers Art Club is a community for children who love to explore, experiment, get messy, make things and discover where their ideas might lead.

Inspired by the philosophy of Adventure Seekers Playgroup, Art Club is built around the belief that children are naturally creative, capable and curious. Rather than teaching children how to make a particular “perfect” artwork, we create an environment where they can explore materials, ideas, movement, colour, texture and imagination in their own way.

There is no right or wrong way to create.

There is no expectation that every child will take home a finished product.

Instead, we value the process of making. The experimenting, wondering, changing direction, problem-solving, collaborating, making mistakes and trying again.

Each session offers an evolving collection of creative invitations rather than a single structured craft activity.

Children might find:

  • clay, mud and natural materials

  • paint in unusual and unexpected ways

  • charcoal, chalk and pastels

  • loose parts and found objects

  • wire, cardboard, fabric and paper

  • collage and assemblage materials

  • sensory and tactile materials

  • natural pigments and earth-based materials

  • large scale mark making

  • light, shadow and projection

  • printing and pattern making

  • weaving, threading and construction

  • sculpture and 3D making

  • drawing and observational exploration

  • collaborative artworks

  • music, movement and visual art

Come and see what your child can discover.

FAQs

  • What is Adventure Seekers Art Club?

Adventure Seekers Art Club is a child-led, open-ended art and creative play experience. Children are invited to explore a variety of materials, techniques, textures and ideas without being expected to create a particular finished product.

  • Is it an art class?

    Not quite!

While children will be introduced to lots of different art materials and ways of creating, Art Club isn’t a traditional step-by-step art class. We don’t all sit down and make the same thing. Instead, children are presented with creative invitations and provocations and encouraged to follow their own ideas.

  • My child isn’t very “artistic”. Is this still for them?

    Absolutely.

You don’t need to consider yourself an artist to be part of Art Club.

There is no expectation that children need to be confident at drawing or painting. In fact, Art Club is particularly wonderful for children who say “I can’t draw” or aren’t sure where to begin. There are many ways to be creative: building, experimenting, moving, arranging, mixing, constructing, making marks, working with clay and simply exploring materials.

  • What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothes that you’re happy to see get paint, clay, dirt or other creative materials on them. An Art Club outfit doesn’t need to be fancy! If you have an art smock, that would be awesome!

  • Do I need to stay with my child?

Yes you do! This is a stay and create space. You'll find that you may enjoy the art too!

  • Do you document the sessions?

Yes, I capture photos of the process, discoveries and experiences, rather than simply photographing finished artworks or any child. All of my content remains faceless as I respect all children and families privacy. I love documenting moments such as concentration, collaboration, experimentation and children’s words.

You will find my content on Instagram: @adventureseekers__

If this isn't for you and your child, please let me know and I am so happy to not capture anything of your child.

  • Is nature part of Art Club?

Yessssss! Nature is a wonderful source of inspiration and material for creative exploration. Depending on the session, children may work with leaves, sticks, seed pods, stones, flowers, natural pigments, shadows, textures, patterns and other elements of the natural world.

We encourage children to notice and appreciate their environment, while collecting natural materials thoughtfully and respectfully.
