SENVIC Advocacy Workshop - Federal Government Jobs White Paper

Event description

What: SENVIC is inviting our social enterprise community to a two-part workshop sprint to respond to the Federal Government Employment White Paper Consultation, closing on Wednesday, 30 November 2022.

Why: We know that government consultations aren't a sexy or exciting use of your time - but - we know there is a real opportunity to shape policy change when we get our foot in the door.

Working in social enterprise is hard - we want to make it easier!

Following this week’s new data on our economic contribution, this is a key opportunity for the government to lean in and learn from our community.

So What? This is your chance to advocate your needs, your lived experience, and your passion towards favourable policy change for work integrated social enterprise in Australia.

If we can take some of your pain away through making sense of the consultation process, then we know social enterprise will have a real opportunity to influence policy through their practitioner expertise and lived experience.

Our Value Exchange

We can't do it alone. Help us to help you:

1. Be heard by SENVIC and have your key messages amplified through the collective voice

2. Test our key messages and template design to tell us what works and doesn't work to enable your independent submission to be delivered

3. Come together for some peer-support and mentoring. At Monday’s workshop, we'll sit alongside you with some awesome virtual energy and hand holding to help you stand up an independent submission.

How: Two Online facilitated workshops - Register for 1 or both workshops via Humanitix

When:

Workshop 1 - Friday 25 Nov 1pm-2pm

  • Why should I care about the consultation and what is a 'submission assistant'? (We'll be super brief but it's important to discuss!)
  • What do you think of our key messages? (Keep them, bin them or something else?)
  • What do you think about our template design elements for you/your staff to use? (Keep them, bin them or something else?)
  • What are your key messages that we need to hear in relation to work-integrated social enterprise in your local context? (We know that passionate conversations can be tricky but hold all the important messages - let's create space for that!)

Information Session and Workshop 2 - Monday 28 Nov 1pm-2pm

  • What we learnt from workshop 1 (We'll be super brief, but it gives us context and focus for the next leg of the sprint)
  • Launch of the submission assistant (Your practical navigation tool)
  • Opportunity no. 2 to share your key messages that we need to hear in relation to work-integrated social enterprise in your local context (like we said - we want to create space for those passionate conversations!)
  • If you're super keen to put a submission in on behalf of your social enterprise, but are still feeling unsure, let us be your personal cheer leader and mentor! We'll stay online for an extra hour to motivate, answer questions, and help you get that submission over the line – think of it like a silent disco!
