Advocating for Bike Infrastructure: How to create successful community outcomes
Event description
Join Bike Auckland for our next event to help you build capacity to advocate for your cycling community!
Pippa Coom is a former Auckland Councillor and Local Board Chair who came to politics in 2010 via her cycle activism with Bike Auckland. Since then she has been a champion for safer streets, transport options and community-led decision making.
Pippa's presentation draws on her experience leading on projects through council processes and her on-going campaigning work. The Inner West projects that are currently underway after a decade of multiple consultations, delays and vocal opposition provide a case study for how community advocates can build capacity to meaningfully engage, influence decision makers and navigate the set-backs on the path to successful community outcomes.
This will be a facilitated workshop so that we can get some real ideas and inspiration on paper! A three hour gathering, there will be time to meet your neighbours and strengthen your own connections, while we discover ways to make others throughout the community and build capacity for your Bike Burb!
