AFMOCON 2027
Description
AFMOCON 2027: The Child at the Center — Power, Identity, and Possibility
AFMOCON is Africa's flagship gathering for Afrocentric Montessori education, where educators, parents, and thought leaders come together to reimagine what child-centered learning looks like when it's rooted in African identity and history.
This year's theme places the child, not the curriculum, at the center of everything: their power, their sense of self, and the possibilities open to them.
Join us in Harare, Zimbabwe for two full conference days (14–15 August 2027), preceded by a rare 3-day immersion in Masvingo, walking the grounds of Great Zimbabwe to connect Montessori practice to deep African heritage, and capped off with a gala dinner on 13 August. Expect workshops, research showcases, and conversations that don't just theorize Afrocentric education, but live it.
Whether you're a Montessori practitioner, an education researcher, or simply someone who believes children deserve to see themselves at the center of their own learning, this is where that work happens.
