Event description

** EVENT CANCELLATION**

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have regrettably made the decision to cancel our April 7 event “After the fires: What next for climate policy?”

We thank you for your patience, and hope that you remain safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Of course, with the pandemic and its economic consequences dominating news it is important to remember this old planet of ours is still warming.

Should you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to contact us at Tennille.Jones@uts.edu.au

The mega-fires burnt an area seven times greater than the previous worst fires, including areas of rainforest never touched before. The scale of destruction has galvanised Australia’s discussion of climate change. What is the after-effect of a fire crisis as savage as this one? And what does it mean, if anything, for climate policy in Australia? Professor Bob Carr leads a panel discussion with:

Professor Ross Bradstock, Fire Ecologist at Wollongong University, leads a research team that measures landscape fire risks and develops cost effective management and programs for change.

Emma Herd, Chief Executive Officer at the Investor Group on Climate Change, has extensive experience in climate change and finance.

Blair Palese, Founder of 350.org Australia, is also an advisor to cities for climate action.
