Join us for an Afternoon Tea with artist in residence, Mermaid Tay, at the Emporium Creative Hub. This informal gathering offers a unique opportunity to explore the captivating artworks, experiments, and explorations Mermaid Tay has undertaken during her six months residency.

As Country Victoria’s first and only professional mermaid artist, Mermaid Tay has transformed a lifelong obsession with mermaids into over a decade of conceptual performance and multi-disciplinary archival work. Specialising in site-specific performance art, her work spans locations from bathtubs to local water fountains, capturing the visual and spiritual evidence that mermaids exist.

Mermaid Tay will share her role as a modern-day historian, viewing her work as evidence through a third-party observer’s lens. Discover how her body becomes a medium, creating a collated and documented archive of the existence of mermaids in contemporary life.
