The Department of Health is holding a series of webinars to share information about the aged care reforms announced in the 2021-22 Budget and in response to the Aged Care Royal Commission.

These webinars are an opportunity for anyone who uses or needs aged care, who works in aged care or who has an interest in improving aged care in Australia to learn more about the reforms.

Webinars will include presentations from the Hon Greg Hunt MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, and Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services, as well as presentations and panel discussions by senior officials from the Department of Health.

Aged care reforms: an overview

Our first webinar will cover the five key pillars of aged care reform and how the Government will work with the aged care sector to ensure outcomes are improved for senior Australians who need and use aged care.

We’ll tell you about the major reforms being done to improve aged care in Australia including:

  • improving aged care services at home and in residential settings
  • important changes to quality and safety in aged care
  • how we’ll enhance our aged care workforce through new initiatives such as additional financial supports and more training for aged care workers
  • a new consumer-focused aged care Act.

We’re committed to involving senior Australians, their families and carers in implementing the aged care reforms, and working with the aged care industry and the workforce to make the changes that are needed. You’ll also have the opportunity to have your say about how we can work together to implement reforms.
