Chris will cover changes in both residential aged care area and the Support atHome Program. She will cover:

  • The specific changes being introduced

  • Potential ramifications for allied health aged care providers and issues that still need reform

  • Advice on how to prepare for these changes and support AHPA’s advocacy on behalf of the allied health sector

More about our presenter:

Dr Chris Atmore is Policy & Advocacy Senior Advisor in aged care for Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA), the national peak association for Australia’s allied health professions. Chris represents AHPA on a range of aged care bodies, including:

  • Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care Aged Care Advisory Committee

  • Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority Stakeholder Advisory Committee and Aged Care Network

  • Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Residential Aged Care Funding Reform Working Group, Quality Indicator and Star Ratings Technical Advisory Group, and Aged Care Transition Sector Working Group

  • National Aged Care Alliance

Chris is the author of numerous aged care submissions and policy briefs and regularly represents the allied health sector to the Australian Government and in inquiries.

Chris is also responsible for the day-to-day delivery of AHPA’s work as partner (with Liquid Interactive and HealthConsult) in the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Project, Development of an Aged Care Allied Health Needs Assessment Tool (AHNAT). The Project runs from March 2025 to February 2026 and will develop and test a new allied health standardised needs assessment tool for use in residential aged care homes.
