Ageing, Isolation and Intergenerational Inclusion
Description
We’re all ageing. But how well are our workplaces, organisations and communities creating opportunities for people to stay connected, contribute and participate as they get older?
This Seniors Month, Gold Coast Inclusion Network is bringing together lived experience, local leaders and community voices for a practical half-day exploring ageing, isolation and intergenerational inclusion.
We’ll hear directly from older Gold Coasters about their experiences of connection, participation and getting older, before working together to explore what helps people stay connected and where people can become excluded or isolated along the way.
Together, we’ll explore:
ageism and the assumptions we make about people as they get older
loneliness, connection and belonging
participation, purpose and contribution across different stages of life
intergenerational connection and what we can learn from one another
what workplaces, organisations and communities can do differently to strengthen inclusion.
And because everyone has something to contribute, we’ll also be asking:
What can you teach? And what would you love to learn?
Expect lived experience, honest conversation, practical activities and plenty of opportunity to connect with others across the Gold Coast.
This session is for leaders, employers, community organisations, service providers, government, not-for-profits and anyone interested in creating communities and workplaces where people can continue to participate, contribute and belong as they age.
Light lunch provided
Gold Coast Inclusion Network is a pay-it-forward initiative of Collaborative Culture, creating accessible opportunities for local leaders to learn, connect and strengthen inclusion across the Gold Coast.
