Sun, 7 Dec, 8am - 2pm AEDT

Event description

A practical workshop with limited participants for clarity and quality skills sharing.

https://www.greenbirdorganics.com/

Join us on the farm during a major eucalypt pruning to learn the principles of syntropic agroforestry — and how to build food, fibre, and ecological resilience into one productive system.

An immersive day on the farm exploring how syntropic principles can transform the way we grow. This hands-on workshop introduces the philosophy and practice of syntropy — a farming approach that works with natural succession.

We’ll begin with an introduction to syntropy and how it’s applied in a subtropical, small-scale, commercial context. You’ll hear the story of how our farm evolved to its current method — integrating bananas, and annual crops in regenerative systems that build soil, foster biodiversity, and produce abundant food.

Then, you’ll roll up your sleeves for the practical component: a pruning demonstration and group activity in one of our agroforestry treelines. We’ll walk through the principles behind selective pruning, light management, and biomass cycling — the key processes that keep syntropic systems thriving.

What You’ll Learn

  • Tree selection and placement in agroforestry systems

  • Chop-and-drop pruning for organic matter and succession

  • How to integrate annual vegetables into Syntropic and tree systems

  • Species sequencing and food forest logic

  • Demonstration of real farm rows in action

  • Insights from our farm’s journey — what’s worked, what hasn’t, and why

Who It’s For
Farmers, home gardeners, landholders, or anyone interested in regenerative and organic farming.
