NZARE is proud to host an online panel discussion on the changing landscape of educational leadership in the age of AI. Our expert panellists, Kathryn MacCallum (Associate Professor in Digital Education Futures, University of Canterbury) and Tim Gander (Postgraduate Director at academyEX), will delve into the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for educational leaders and researchers in Aotearoa.

About the speakers

Kathryn MacCallum (Associate Professor in Digital Education Futures, University of Canterbury)

Kathryn has a strong research background in the integration of digital tools, including AI, into the curriculum across all educational levels. Her research, which includes projects in NZ and internationally, explores innovative uses of technology (including AR and VR) to support learners.

Tim Gander (Postgraduate Director, academyEX, Future Learning)

Tim is passionate about exploring the intersection of education and technology, with a focus on AI and equitable approaches to learning. His research interests include teacher education, social justice, and the future of education in an increasingly virtual world. Tim has been running an active community of practice to support learning about AI in Education for all educators in Aotearoa.

Carolyn Stuart (Founder of Weaving Futures, Leadership Lab)

Carolyn is a visionary leader in education and leadership development. She is currently writing her second book in her Leadership Suitcase trilogy. This book is about setting others up for success and includes tools and strategies for leading in the digital age. With a rich background in teaching and consultancy, Carolyn is also a strong advocate for technology in education, enhancing digital leadership and learning environments.
