Description

60-minute guide for parents to navigating the new digital world in your family

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming part of everyday family life, from school assignments and learning apps to social media, entertainment, and online content. Many parents and guardians are left wondering how to keep up, how to protect their children, and how to ensure AI is used in ways that genuinely support learning and wellbeing.

This 60-minute workshop for parents and guardians is designed to provide clear, practical, and balanced guidance on navigating the digital world of AI within the family. The session focuses on real-world use, ethical considerations, and digital safety, without fear-based messaging or technical complexity.

Rather than positioning AI as something to be avoided, this workshop helps families understand how AI can be used thoughtfully, safely, and responsibly, both at home and in school settings.

What You will Learn

1) AI in the Home and Schools

  • How children are currently using AI for learning and everyday tasks

  • The role of AI as a support tool rather than a replacement for thinking or creativity

  • Understanding AI as an opportunity, not a threat

2) Live Demonstration: Ethical Use of AI

  • A real-time demonstration of AI used as a supportive “personal tutor”

  • How parents can guide children to use AI responsibly for learning

  • Encouraging critical thinking and good digital habits

3) Recognising the Red Flags

  • A parent-friendly guide to the three biggest AI-related risks

  • Understanding deepfakes and manipulated content

  • Misinformation, privacy, and safe digital boundaries

Who Should Attend

  • Parents and guardians of primary and secondary school students

  • Families wanting practical, everyday guidance on AI and digital safety

  • No technical or AI background required

Important Notes

  • This is a practical, discussion-led session

  • Content is designed for adults (parents/guardians)

  • Participants are encouraged to bring questions and real-life scenarios
