Description

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the landscape of healthcare — and psychological practice is no exception.

This five-part webinar series takes participants on a journey from foundational understanding to future-focused practice. Beginning with the practical tools now available, the series moves through the broader context in which these tools are emerging, before turning attention to the people we work with — and how they themselves are changing in response. From there, the focus shifts to adapting our practice to remain effective in this evolving landscape, before culminating in a forward-looking session on building the practice of the future.

Together, these sessions offer a structured path from orientation to readiness, equipping participants with both the knowledge and confidence to navigate change with purpose.

A link to access the recorded session following the event will be sent to those who registered for that session.

1 . Beyond ChatGPT: Building Your AI-Enhanced Psychology Practice

Beyond ChatGPT: Building Your AI-Enhanced Psychology Practice

8 July 2026

Artificial intelligence may be the most significant change to affect psychological practice since the arrival of the internet. Yet many psychologists are uncertain about what AI can do, concerned about its risks, or unsure how it fits within ethical and effective clinical work.
This webinar offers an opportunity to move beyond headlines and speculation and see what is actually possible. Through practical demonstrations and discussion, participants will explore how psychologists are beginning to use AI to organise knowledge, accelerate learning, strengthen clinical reasoning, develop resources, and reduce administrative burden. Particular attention will be given to NotebookLM and other emerging tools that can transform years of accumulated professional knowledge into a powerful, searchable clinical resource. The goal is not to replace the psychologist, but to explore how AI may help us become more informed, more effective, and ultimately more human in the work that matters most.

2. Psychology in an Age of Uncertainty: AI, Social Change, the Future

Psychology in an Age of Uncertainty: AI, Social Change, and the Future

5 August 2026

Artificial intelligence is emerging at a time of increasing social division, political uncertainty, economic pressure, and rapid technological change. Many people report feeling overwhelmed, powerless, disconnected, and uncertain about the future. The field is polarizing people into enthusiasts and those involved in a developing AI backlash. This session explores AI within the broader social and cultural forces reshaping modern life. We will examine how technology interacts with loneliness, declining trust, information overload, shifting identities, changing workplaces, and growing uncertainty. Participants will gain a framework for understanding the challenges clients may increasingly bring to therapy and the opportunities available to psychologists in a rapidly changing world.

3. New Minds, New Problems? Emerging Clinical Presentations in the AI

New Minds, New Problems? Emerging Clinical Presentations in the AI Era

23 September 2026

As AI becomes integrated into everyday life, psychologists may begin encountering new patterns of distress, adaptation, and psychological vulnerability. Some of these changes are already emerging. This session explores the impact of AI on empathy, trust, identity, attachment, emotional development, and independent thinking. We will discuss AI-mediated relationships, cognitive offloading, changes in self-concept, social withdrawal, and the emerging phenomenon of AI-reinforced delusional systems and psychosis. Participants will learn how to recognise and formulate technology-related influences that may increasingly shape clinical presentations, and then develop effective and helpful responses.

4. Maxxing our Humanity: Psychologists Thriving in a Changing World

Maxxing our Humanity: How Psychologists Can Thrive in a Changing World

4 November 2026

As AI becomes more capable, the value of uniquely human qualities may become increasingly important. Yet there is also a risk that excessive reliance on technology could gradually weaken critical thinking, creativity, reflection, and clinical judgement. This session explores how psychologists can remain adaptable, effective, and resilient in the face of rapid change. We will examine the risks of cognitive offloading and deskilling, while also demonstrating ways AI can strengthen client engagement, support collaborative therapy, expand treatment options, and open new opportunities for professional growth. The focus is not simply on adapting to change, but on actively shaping how technology is used in psychological practice.

5. The Next Generation Practice: AI Agents, Privacy, Sustainable Work

The Next Generation Practice: AI Agents, Privacy, and Sustainable Work

9 December 2026

The next wave of AI will involve intelligent assistants and specialised agents capable of supporting increasingly complex professional tasks. These developments create exciting opportunities but also raise important questions about privacy, ethics, and professional responsibility. This session provides a practical look at advanced AI applications for psychologists, including specialised agents, workflow automation, knowledge systems, supervision support, and practice management. We will explore how to use these technologies safely and ethically while creating a more sustainable way of working that reduces administrative burden, minimises burnout, and allows psychologists to focus more of their energy on meaningful clinical work. The aim of this layout which builds on our earlier discussions  is that it subtly tells a story:

Tom Neser is a Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience working in trauma, psychological injury, brain injury rehabilitation, and clinical assessment. He has extensive experience providing therapy, assessment, consultation, and clinical supervision across a range of complex presentations.

Alongside his clinical work, Tom has a longstanding interest in neuroscience, human performance, consciousness, and the impact of emerging technologies on psychological wellbeing. In recent years he has focused on understanding how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way people think, learn, relate to others, and engage with mental health services.

Tom is passionate about helping psychologists navigate the opportunities and challenges presented by AI. His presentations combine practical demonstrations, ethical considerations, and thought-provoking discussion about the future of psychological practice in an increasingly technology-mediated world.  He is particularly interested in how psychologists can harness AI to enhance clinical practice while preserving the human capacities for reflection, empathy, wisdom, and sound clinical judgment.
