    Event description

Catholic Learning Online brings you AI in education. Are you panicking yet?

    Session Overview
An online seminar unpacking the current hype about AI in Education across the globe. The session will look beyond the immediate authorship concerns of tools such as ChatGPT towards the development of policy positions which address the longer term implications of the use of AI tools in teaching, learning and administration. This event will be an “In Conversation” session with Dan Ingvarson, Senior Technical Advisor to the EdSAFE AI Alliance.

    Target Audience

School and system leaders responsible for shaping the strategic direction of teaching, learning and administration within K-12 Catholic Education.

Classroom teachers who are interested in the rapidly evolving conversation about AI and the opportunities and challenges that schools, systems and policy makers around the world are considering.

“If you don’t have a strategy, you’re part of someone else’s strategy.” (Alvin Eugene Toffler)

    Why?

The “Age of AI” has dawned and is off and running!

Within the education sector the advent of large language models and cognitive robots such as ChatGPT has sparked the interest of teachers, students and administrators. The rapid integration of AI tools more broadly within enterprise IT systems offers the prospect of tremendous benefits but also introduces new risks and challenges.

It is said that AI will be the most significant disruption to occur in a century. Industry research predicts that with the integration of AI functions 25% of activities in education instruction and over 35% of administrative processes will be in some way automated.

    What is our strategic response?
