Event description

Join us for a thought-provoking series of three online workshops designed for professionals in the women’s health, domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV), and community legal sectors.

This series explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and gender. It offers critical insights into the unique impact AI technologies pose to sector service delivery, legal processes, and ethical responsibilities.

Session 1: Unpacking and Reframing AI

Tuesday 25 Nov 2025, 14:30 - 16:30

Explore how AI perceives women and people with marginalised identities, and what that means for ethical service delivery. This session will unpack feminist critiques of AI, trauma-informed technology use, and the responsibilities of practitioners when integrating AI into work with women, people with marginalised identities, and those with experiences of DFSV. This session is suitable for professionals working directly with clients and those in administration and management roles.

Session 2: Case Notes, Subpoenas and AI

Tuesday 2 December 2025, 11:00 to 13:00

Dive into the legal implications of using AI for documenting client’s experiences of DFSV. Learn about privacy concerns, ownership of AI-generated case notes, and how courts are responding to AI in legal settings. This session is suitable for professionals working directly with clients and those in administration and management roles.

Session 3: AI Within a Feminist Framework

Tuesday 9 December 2025, 11:00 to 13:00

Designed for managers and senior staff, this interactive workshop focuses on aligning AI use with feminist principles. Topics include data collection, policy updates, insurance, staff training, and strategies for transparent client communication.

This series is brought to you through a collaboration between Community Legal Centres NSW (CLCNSW) and Women's Health NSW (WHNSW).

The workshops will be presented by EJ Wise of Wise Law.

EJ opened the doors to her specialist cyber security law firm in December 2018, after retiring from 21 years in uniform as an Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force. This was the first time an Australian military cyber security lawyer with years of both Cyber Squadron and Pentagon experience could be engaged commercially to talk about cyber security, AI and risk.

EJ is an ecologist and lawyer who studied computer science in the 1980s, environmental law in the 1990s and policy and governance in the 2000s. She actively practised humanitarian law for over two decades and is now a keynote speaker, lecturer at several universities, Principal and founder of Wise Law, and servant to two cat overlords.

EJ started her law firm at the age most women become invisible – mid-life.  EJ is a passionate advocate for dignity and compassion in women’s health, domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV), and community legal sectors.
