Event description

AI Wrote This Play

Can a machine be a playwright? Let’s find out… together.

🗓 Thursday 31 July

🕕 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

📍 Black Box Theatre, upstairs Community Arts Rooms, Western Plains Cultural Centre, Dubbo

🎟 Free (registration encouraged)

Join us for a one-of-a-kind event that blends live performance, audience participation, and big questions about creativity in the age of artificial intelligence.

In AI Wrote This Play, we’ll generate a short play in real time using ChatGPT — with the audience feeding in the key ingredients. Local actors will bring the script to life, and you’ll help us refine it on the spot for a second reading. In between, a panel of local artists and arts workers will discuss the impact of AI on creative practice: What does it mean for artists? Is AI a tool, a threat, or something else entirely? Can it ever replace human creativity — or just remix it?

Expect bold ideas, surprising twists, a few laughs, and a chance to contribute to a live experiment in art and technology.

No tech expertise needed — just curiosity.

Whether you’re an artist, a sceptic, or just here for the theatre, this event is for you.
